“She… she be building me up.”

“She… then be loving me down.”

Now Playing/Visuals: “She” by Stokley Williams.

“She” was written by Stokley and Carvin Haggins and is from his sophomore project Sankofa which includes a partnership with legendary producers  Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

There’s nothing that we don’t like about this song, but if we were to nitpick our only gripe would be that we wish it didn’t speed up and that’s just for selfish reasons.

The slow burn of the verses and the pre-chorus over the bass with the finger snaps is what draws us into the song immediately and lulls us in such a sexy, slow-grind way that we wanna stay right there.

However it’s not that we don’t appreciate the tempo change during the chorus. In fact it’s what makes the song current and fall in with what R&B is doing today… but in the best way.

About the song Stokley says, “When you get to a certain intimate space in a relationship, you realize there are many more facets to a person than previously discovered. “She” represents the spirit of this very thought.”

If you’re anything like us, then you’ll play this one several times in a row. Check out “She” from Stokley.
