Growns! We wanted to get you up to speed on a project that dropped today from saxophonist and vocalist Eric Darius RETRO FORWARD. Eric Darius’ infinite vision has allowed the musical chameleon to collaborate with such diverse superstars as Prince, George Benson, Mary J. Blige, Wynton Marsalis and Brian McKnight, to name a few. For this project Eric has teamed up with some heavy weight producers(Antonio Dixon who is one half of the hit-making FaceTone with Babyface). Dixon’s credits also include work with Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Toni Braxton and Christina Aguilera. Also Blu2th, who has created hits for everyone from The Underdogs and Chris Brown to Tyrese, Jordin Sparks and Boy II Men). RETRO FORWARD is a great mix of R&B and contemporary jazz and features some great vocals and playing from Eric!
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
