GFM Exclusive Video Premiere: Carmen Rodgers - "Again and Again"

Carmen Rodgers has gifted us with the sultry, breezy visual we all really need going into this weekend. Grown Folks Music is beyond pleased and proud to premiere the visual for "Again and Again" from Carmen Rodgers produced by another GFM Fave Nicolay.

Talk about a Summer Sound, "Again and Again" will take you to you to a destination that will blow the jasmine right through your mind.

"Again and Again" is a part of Carmen's Hello Human, Vol. 1 EP which you can purchase and stream right here.

Kudos to Carmen and her entire team in their production of this stunning visual.

From the press release...

Don't call it a comeback. Although it's been almost six years since her last release, the work never stopped for Carmen Rodgers and that "sweet soul" voice. Between touring as a Solo Artist, on the road with producer and multi-instrumentalist Zo!, on stage and in the studio as Featured Vocalist and Songwriter with the wildly popular and dynamic Grammy-nominated band THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE, or writing music on multiple projects and having her own music featured on hit shows such as CBS' All Rise and the Netflix film Nappily Ever After, Carmen has kept our attention with her music and talents during the wait.

Now with the release of her highly-anticipated EP Hello Human, Vol. 1 produced on her own label Candigirl Music, Carmen will walk you through the human experience with keen self-awareness through love, intimacy, wonder, regret, and the quest for healing and wholeness. And with the release of video for her lush first single "Again and Again" produced by bandmate and frequent collaborator Nicolay of The Foreign Exchange, steady fans and newcomers to Carmen's world are in for a visual treat. Soul Bounce called the song "rapturous" and Soul Tracks refers to it as "sensual" while able to still "leave something to the imagination," and the video perfectly compliments these remarks. The viewer will be taken through stunning and scenic Negril, Jamaica, enticing them to escape with a lover or just their own imagination. Carmen has found her sweet spot with this sexy love anthem that has already taken listeners by storm.

GFM Exclusive Video Premiere - Debórah Bond: "time" OFFICIAL Short Film/Music Video Directed by T. L. Benton

What an honor and a privilege it is for us here at GFM to present this exclusive premiere of "time" the new short film from Mecca Film Works featuring vocalist Debórah Bond. This is Art. Oh how we love to support creations in this realm and to understand the era that we are in, the conditions that this creation was birthed underneath we owe it to ourselves and the creators to go on the journey with them.

Film synopsis:

“time” is a short film by Mecca Film Works featuring vocalist Debórah Bond. The story plays on a modern day “quantum leap” where Deborah time travels as a singer during the 1950s and 2020. The film leaves it up to the viewer to identify what time period is Debórah’s actual reality as you get a glimpse of what working with her would be like in both time periods. Filled with soulful sounds, stellar visuals & editing, even moments of humor, the video is a continuance of Deborah’s music video album. Each video will tell the full story.

Carl Brister - "Enough Is Enough"(Video Premiere)

Carl Brister (who we had the honor of helping to kickoff his L.O.V.E. Virtual Tour right here back in May) brings to the world a much needed admonition - "Enough Is Enough". A musical lamentation, the sound and story build to a climactic ultimatum with each passing measure. America is being putting in her place right here on record: "Enough Is Enough... I Can't Breathe." The underlying "How long, too long?" burns at the core of the composition.

The starkness of the black and white video rendering is not lost on these eyes. Visuals in the video from this past summer, a season of protest, a season often known for its vibrancy and day glow coloring truly has been a monochrome moment in time. Carl Brister captures this eloquently as he at once implores the aural and visuals sides of our consciousness. This is our story, this is our song for we've been telling this story entirely too long. Enough truly is enough. There is a message not only in the music but watch the video all the way to the end. The message Carl Brister has for us in the truly the genesis for change.

"Enough Is Enough" from Carl Brister is available on digital platforms everywhere.

Nas, Terminator X and Professor Griff are full in Ultra Black mode. Hearing this music delivered in this way awakened the 18 year old '88 style me in a real way. The energy is there now with the wisdom of years but this message is a reminder that needs to stay top of mind.

Whitney McClain - "Good With Pain"

From the EP Letters From A Broken Heart R&B Soul singer/songwriter Whitney McClain who is garnering a lot of attention for ‘Letters from a Broken Heart’, has a produced compelling video for "Good With Pain" from the set.

McClain describes the song...

”Good With Pain” was inspired by a couple of past relationships I had been in. It was a constant theme for me to stay in a toxic relationship because either I believed I was in love so much that I would do anything to make the relationship last or I was strong enough to take the pain. I hope the listener gains something from my experience in speaking my truth.

#NowWatching: Professor Daddy-O feat. Bun B "(U Ain't) Ride Now"

The latest single from Professor Daddy-O's great set of #Grown Hip Hop From My Hood 2 U now has a compelling visual that features the one and only Bun B. Brooklyn and Texas? You already know or you should. I cannot think of a better way to start off this decade a new, than to have examples like this that should remove the myth that "They don't make music like the used to..." Sure they do. You can see it and feel it right here.

We are the only ones who can save our music through support and love of the real ones doing real things. This right here more than qualifies and I would be remiss if I did not send a special shout out to the Professor for his dope product placement of GFM merch. We certainly do appreciate that and you. #Growns if you've read these pages here you know what we're asking you to do... it's a simple as telling one or two thousand of your closest friends about this great collab and while you're at it check out the entire From My Hood 2 U from Professor Daddy-O!

Now Playing/Visuals: The Shindellas: "It Wasn't Really Love"

On top of singing a message of truth and self-respect to the ladies ["If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck."] as The Shindellas tend to do, the group pairs some creative and stimulating visuals with the harmonies and takes singing in the shower to another level. Check out the visuals for "It Wasn't Really Love" by The Shindellas directed by Carley Haggerty .
