When I write of often try to steer clear of clichés but I must invoke one here if you will allow. This video from Richmond based trumpeter/cornetist Victor Haskins collaborating with the legendary Lonnie Liston-Smith on piano is beyond what the doctor ordered for me today. The weather here in VA is as lovely as this rendition of the Bronislau Kaper classic. Makes for the perfect soundtrack for this season. A special nod to Matt Hall and Tony Martucci for painting with such lovely colors here as they round out the ensemble on bass and drums respectively.
“Invitation” is the first of three videos that will be released in the exclusive series.
Can’t wait to see what’s up next. As is customary around these parts make sure to share this with your friends, colleagues, etc., and spread the word about the great music that’s happening right now in 2014.
