#GreatCause - Help Send Audio Wolf to Cuba

#Growns as you know our long reigning mantra has been "GFM Loves the young folks". When the young folks are doing music of this caliber at this level in front of a live audience opening for Chanté Moore... not only is a round of applause called for but certainly support for the movement called Audio Wolf is in short order.

Take a peek and a listen

Audio Wolf is a program that is part of Sound Education Experience(SEE) which is a, 501(c)3, non-profit community focused arts company. Their mission focuses on providing personalized outreach for youth through music, art, and creative expression. Audio Wolf is their jazz fusion group comprised of extraordinarily talented youth. The band members range in age from 13 to 17. Audio Wolf has shared the stage with Grammy winning artists, Roberta Flack and Robert Glasper as well as opened for acts like friend to GFM jazz pianist, Jesse Fischer and R&B vocalist, Howard Hewett to name a few.

An invitation has been extended to appear at The Havana International Jazz Festival in January 2018. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to make this once in a lifetime opportunity a reality by visting Audio Wolf's donation page here.

Wanted to get you all up on the sounds of a new musical outfit hailing from Atlanta, GA. The Soulutio consists of artist Jahah, Grammy award winning producer Henny from the production duo Tha Bizness, and songwriter Brandon Nowden. The Soulution is bringing to the table music and a message that is as timely and necessary as it is well-crafted musically. Today we're posting the first song in a set of 14 tracks that this group has put together entitled "Sunshine's On The Way" and if the lead track is any indication this the sound of The Soulution will become not only a group that you want to hear but one you will need to hear as well.

Growns, you know this near and dear to the heart of GFM for the A is the home of GFM HQ!

After watching the VH1 documentary, ATL, I was compelled to finally make a mix about my favorite hip-hop songs from Atlanta. This is not a definitive list. It is definitely biased and personal. Being a southerner, some of these songs have been the soundtrack of my life.

Janelle Monáe - Q.U.E.E.N. feat. Erykah Badu [Official Video]

You know what? My GFM cohorts will tell you in no uncertain terms how much this video made me smile yesterday. Simply for the fact that I saw so many likes and comments for music that was made in 2013. I love a good throwback as much as the next person, but I also realize that new memories have to be created or forward we will not move. I also understand as much as the next person that good is not good enough.

In an environment where we are inundated with music on what seems like an hourly basis at times, good just ain't going to get it anymore. We want and in fact deserve nothing but the best, period. The noise we will ignore, the great we will celebrate. This is great!

New Music: Dionne Farris w/the Russell Gunn Quartet - "I Know" from "Dionne Get Your Gunn"

GFM Fam wanted to give you all a quick taste of what will prove to be a must have for your collection. Dionne Get Your Gunn is the latest project from Dionne Farris and The Russell Gunn Quartet. In listening to a few of the cuts for review I can say in no uncertain terms that this is what this site and music in general should be about.

Far too often we safely place artists and their compositions into these neat little categories where they should play nice and just stay. But music and life (which should always inspire the music) is not that simple or safe. Below is a re-working of Dionne's classic "I Know" and it just goes to show that when the notes and the time are arranged by someone who is well acquainted with style, the familiar can become the new familiar.

Recorded over two nights, Oct 12th and 13th, 2012, with pianist Louis Herevoux, drummer Henry Conerway III and bassist Kevin Smith, live at Churchill Grounds in Atlanta, by award winning engineer Alvin Speights. Dionne Get Your Gunn marks Dionne’s 3rd full-length release on her independent label Free and Clear Records. This will also be her 4th commercial release which has been funded through

GFM Spotlight Interview: Uncle Craig - Director "Private House Party (P.H.P.)" (Official Video) Da Famous Boyzz

Da Famous Boyzz

"Uncle Craig"

More of a conversation with an old friend doing big things than interview... I recently chatted with "Uncle Craig" of M2C Productions who recently directed the short film that showcases the new single "Private House Party (P.H.P.)" by Atlanta based group Da Famous Boyzz. In this interview we discuss the inspirational back story behind the song, the genesis of several companies formulated as an outgrowth of this recording project, the NYC to ATL connection, bridging the generation gap musically and much more.

What "Uncle Craig" shares with us in this interview truly demonstrates the power of music. The members of Da Famous Boyzz are all currently upperclassmen in high school yet, they have been actively recording and performing since 2006. The beneficiaries of talent and great mentoring Da Famous Boyzz have a sound that has been missing in the Hip Hop marketplace for quite some time: Music that everyone can listen to without the aid or assistance of bleeps, bloops or reversing objectionable words.

Shout out to Blahzay Music Group label home of Da Famous Boyzz, M2C Productions for this great film and Day After Productions for holding down the scoring duties.
