GFM Fam if you are not already familiar, we wanted to take some time out today to introduce you to the sound of Soul Singer/Actress SuCh(pronounced ‘such’) who is doing big things the independent way.
SuCh recently released the video for “Sugar Maple” which is the lead single for her upcoming album release. “Sugar Maple” has had the distinction of charting at #1 on UK’s Soul Charts for 3 consecutive weeks in August and it is currently in rotation on V103 Chicago, iHeart Urban AC, and on Sirius XM’s Heart & Soul. “Sugar Maple” as the title implies, is sonic nectar for the ears… music that places this listener in a place of relaxation through the interplay of the bass ostinato, swirling electric piano, warm guitar, a vocal line that lilts on top and all held together by the pulsating drum track.
“Sugar Maple” certainly sounds “Grown” to me.

Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
