The Kiss 104.1 Flashback Festival is always the place to be for Growns who are “Old School For Life”.
It’s even better when members of the Minneapolis funk family show up. At 61 years young, Sheila E. tore up the stage. You already knew she’s the baddest on the percussion, but did you know Ms. Escovedo throws down on the guitar too?! She paid tribute to the Purple One [Prince] by performing some of his songs, but perhaps we delighted most when she pulled out a jewel from her own catalog– “The Belle Of St. Mark”.
The Godfather of Cool Morris Day brought up the rear. With him were Monte Moir and Jellybean Johnson, two original members of Time, and of course his signature mirror. Day’s swagger and schtick never gets old. He will always be beloved for it. Besides, it makes for a great time when combined with all the jams we love. He too paid tribute to his friend Prince with a picture montage between costume changes.
Enjoy our pictures from the show.
