A love song for the Love Month

If you’re looking for a contemplative anthem that will put you in every single feel that you have, you know the kind of tune that if I was a music supervisor I would place to play in the climactic driving down the highway flashback scene, yeah that one. “Be Your Friend” is that tune. That’s an instant late night classic right there. – Me

Early Bus This Time

The above words were written upon my first listen to Calvin Richardson’s latest single “Be Your Friend” from his Gold Dust album. Sometimes over we’re a little late to the scene but in our review (which you can read here). “Be Your Friend” is R&B like we like it over here: meaningful, intentional, soulful and masterfully executed. What better time than the Love Month than to have some new special time love music?

From the press release

All great soulmen possess an earnest and instantly identifiable sound capable of permeating your very soul. Marvin, Teddy and Luther had it and singer/songwriter Calvin Richardson has it too. Uncle Charlie, the iconic Charlie Wilson, calls Calvin “one of the most talented artists in the business.”

Calvin Richardson has recorded with and written songs for everyone from Angie Stone and Raphael Saadiq to Charlie Wilson. He co-wrote Wilson’s hit “There Goes My Baby” with Babyface. “When I write, I’m writing for that hopeless romantic inside of me who deeply believes that love changes everything.”

I realized over the years that there are so many people out there that feel exactly as I do and who need that deep belief to be nurtured so that it can flourish. That’s why I just write from my heart.”
