Culled from Little Dragon’sself-titled 2007 debut project, “Stormy Weather” is a melange of genres and sonic possibilities brought to fruition. What makes this cover by D.C. based Columbia Nights intriguing and appealing is that the sonic palette is expanded and you come to realize that there is even more to be explored aurally. Columbia Nights represents for me what I have come to refer to as Anatal which is simply the hybrid of the analog and digital worlds. There is a warmth that is found on this cover that can definitely be attributed to the group’s stated love of vinyl.
Definitely looking forward to hearing more from this trio that consists of Co-producers and former bandmates John E Daise and Hayling Price and vocalist Sarai Abdul-Malik.
