Val B. King’s sophomore release So Many Ways is what you get when you combine talent, creativity and integrity for a musical production. Certainly being the granddaughter of of legendary King of the Blues, B.B. King doesn’t hurt, but Val B. King’s talent goes before her and we are all the better for this irrefutable fact.
Produced by the imitable Frank McComb So Many Ways gives the listener so many shades of the smooth and soothing side of music. From the opener “Ooh You” that features Najee the life that runs through this nine song set is music and not gimmickry.
#Growns we’ve been here before, you can probably guess at this point in the post what this writer is about to say… great music continues to be made, Val B. King is a prime example of this but here’s where we need to do our part: Tell a friend or two thousand that So Many Ways is the music that you need on your playlist now.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
