I wanted to provide a little space today in tribute to the passing of a Soul Music Producer and Musician: The legendary Willie Mitchell. Mitchell passed away today in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 81. Over his illustrious career Willie Mitchell has been a studio owner(Royal Studios in Memphis), the owner of Hi records and produced such Soul Luminaries as Syl Johnson, Ann Peebles and the love man himself Al Green.

Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
