Yes given the opportunity I probably would start a “new series” daily 🙂 I just couldn’t think of a better way to go through my vinyl collection than randomly picking a song from an album, any album and say a few words about the production and share the audio goodness.
Our inaugural post comes from Roberta Flack’s 1970 album Chapter Two. “Gone Away” was written by the triumvirate of Curtis Mayfield, Leroy Hutson and Donny Hathaway (with Donny handling arranging, piano and backing vocal duty). This is melancholy soul at its best. My hope is that you will consider putting this on after dinner and as the music plays go to that introspective place. The track contains all the crackly audio goodness you’ve come to expect from old vinyl. Enjoy!
