Trailer from a documentary about the late, great musician, composer, arranger, producer Charles Stepney. Over the course of his career Charles Stepney worked with such greats as Ramsey Lewis, Minnie Ripperton and Earth, Wind and Fire.
It is our hope that by highlighting the important work of great musicians like Charles Stepney, we might inspire current and future generations of musicians to go beyond what they are currently force fed in the mainstream to forge new paths through the appreciation of those who have laid a solid musical foundation.

Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
