Check out Chicago-based duo M&O’s take on the instant Outkast classic, “Hey Ya”.
About their interpretation of the song, M&O explains: “We wanted to take Andre’s lyrics and put them in a new musical mood to highlight the story of the song. What’s amazing about Outkast’s version is that it’s so dancey you might not immediately notice the heartbreak happening underneath. It’s a perfect metaphor because so many people go through their days like that, smiling through the whatever struggles they’re going through. But for this cover we wanted to slow it down and put more space around the lyrics to invite folks to really hear & feel them.”
