Legendary drummer Earl Palmer died on September 19th at age 84. A New Orleans native, he was known for his work with Little Richard, who called him “the greatest session drummer of all time” and artists across the music spectrum, from Motown classics to Frank Sinatra and the Beach Boys.
He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and kept making music until his passing this year.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
