It’s funny how life can imitate art and this was certainly scenario behind the “kiss & tell” duet, That’s What Love Is from Miki Howard’s second studio album on Atlantic Records, Love Confessions. While both Miki and Gerald are extraordinary singers in their own right, there is an undeniable chemistry felt in the mood and sway of this song. Ironically during the time of this album, it was said that the singers were not just singing on “love confessions” but were also romantically involved. This union placed That’s What Love Is to Howard’s highest-charting song at the time and produced other tunes like “I’ll Be Your Shoulder”, “Mister” and “Just The Way You Want Me To”.
