Rosalind “Mallia” Franklin vocalist with the P-Funk collective and original member of Parlet, passed away this past weekend at the age of 57.
Mallia known as the “Queen of Funk” was quite instrumental in defining the P-Funk sound as well as making key introductions of musicians Bootsy Collins and Junie Morrison to George Clinton. Mallia made an appearance in the Prince film Graffiti Bridge and collaborated with artists such as Snoop Dogg.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
