#Growns we wanted to take a little time out on this here Friday to get you familiar with the sights and sounds of Sweden’s own Bishat. With roots in Ethiopia and Eritrea, Bishat writes and performs dark soulful pop, deeply influenced by contemporary R&B. Bishat got her first taste of making music at the age of 13 when she wrote her first song with José González. She’s been compared to artists like FKA Twigs, Tove Lo and even The Weeknd, and was named “Best New Artist of the Month” by Pigeons & Planes, and “a pop star in waiting…” by The 405.
Taken from Bishat’s recently released Mixtape Q417 “Dream About Me” explores the restlessness, the tension that we face as humans on this journey to find self which is the first step in the journey to finding to someone to share our authentic self with. The visual eloquently captures the story of beginnings and endings, indecision and decision: real-life.
We will be exploring more of Bishat’s work here in the coming weeks so make sure to press play for the introduction and come on back through for the full-on conversation.
