With a vocal timbre that is reminiscent of Old Testament MJB, Toronto’s Lisa Banton is garnering some well-deserved nods for doing what singer/songwriters should most concern themselves with: Creating productions that rely on the strength of the song and the delivery of the vocal performance not what many choose to do today which is to rely on a musical gimmick and cast the vocal and song in supporting roles.
