This is the sound of Soul, the sound so many spend the day reminiscing about and hoping for… the good news is it’s here and it’s been here it’s just that in 2011 it’s starting to reveal itself more and more. Someday soon the hobbyists, pretenders and otherwise musical distractions will have to make a choice: Either hone your craft and start producing at this level or keep playing that mess for your downstairs neighbors and the folks at the family cookout. You’ve been warned.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
