Jose James is back with the follow-up to 2008’s The Dreamer, BLACKMAGIC with production work by Flying Lotus, the 13 track set also features Moodyman, DJ Mitsu the Beats and Taylor McFerrin.
This album should prove to be a a feast for the ears from an artist who has been compared to likes of Terry Callier, Jon Lucien and Gil-Scott Heron. José music has been described as a combination of soul, hip-hop and jazz.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
