Yesterday we briefly touched on the concept of sampling and its effect on the music industry, moving to a more open concept of conducting business. I found this clip on Clyde Stubblefield longtime James Brown drummer (who may be the most sampled drummer of all time). Stubblefield’s signature beat “Funky Drummer” has been sampled from everyone from LL Cool J to Common to the theme from the “Power Puff Girls” (I watch TV with my little girls sorry…).
Mr. Stubblefield talks about the importance of establishing a name which in his opinion should supersede your quest for money(I agree). Of even greater importance is Mr. Stubblefield’s current health status, he is need of a kidney transplant. You can read more about the efforts to secure a transplant here.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Stubblefield family in their quest to find a suitable donor.
