A big, big song from 1982 is our Song of the Day and you know I didn’t even make the connection until much later that this was a Motown product. Just goes to show that the vibrancy of this label reached way beyond the 60’s and 70’s. Yes, I know there were hits in the 90’s and beyond but that was after Berry Gordy sold the label, I’m speaking of the Gordy led incarnation of the company.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
