I have to admit it’s “been so long” since I’ve heard this classic song from Anita Baker. The first impression that comes to mind is how much my mother loved Anita. So much to the point that I got the album for her birthday one year. The other thing that comes to mind is how much I enjoyed and still enjoy Anita Baker. Even though I was 10 when the “Rapture” album was released, I could still appreciate this intangible texture in her voice. Having that mixture of R&B and jazz, reminds you of that smoky club with a glass of cognac sitting on the piano. It’s laid back, soothing and subtlety seductive. So with that said, let us raise a toast and celebrate this exquisite vocalist in the song, “Been So Long”.
