The legend, Ms. Chaka Khan returned to the stage Friday, August 5, 2016 (also proclaimed Chaka Khan Day in Atlanta) at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre after taking a self-care break and entering rehabilitation earlier this summer. Grown Folks Music had the honor and pleasure of being in the house to cover her first show since that break. The audience welcomed her with wild enthusiasm before she even appeared on stage and sang one note and once she started singing she blew it away by effortlessly hitting those high notes. It was as if she’d never left.

Vocalist Cleveland P. Jones, keyboardist Nick Rosen and percussionist Jose'”BamBam” Ramirez opened the show. As an emsemble it kept the crowd engaged with great playing and singing including original compositions from Rosen and Jones and a soul-stirring cover of John Mayer’s “Waiting On The World To Change”.
