It really is all about the song and that’s what this series is all about. Persons can debate all they want whose version is better, it doesn’t really matter because there would be no debate if this was not a great song to begin with. Rod Temperton has proven over and over throughout his career that he is a true mastercraftsman of songwriting.
Maybe the problem today is that we don’t have enough apprentices…
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
