#Growns In honor of International Women’s Day today, Swedish RnB songstress Janice who we’ve featured here, has teamed up with the Swedish Red Cross, and three other major Swedish artists – Sabina Ddumba, AMWIN (formerly Amanda Winberg) and LASH – to release a redux version of her epic song “Queen” – with a brand new video as well.
The project is an initiative of the Red Cross – a ”for women, by women” campaign called #Medsyster(Sisters) that will be raising money for women in conflict areas around the world. The funds generated from the campaign will go to the Red Cross’s disaster work, towards maternity care for those in need, as well four specially selected projects: work on genital mutilation in Sudan, increased access to health for women in Afghanistan and preparations for natural disasters in Bangladesh and Myanmar.
“Queen” (Medsyster Version) is a remake of the song on Janice’s recently released debut album, Fallin Up. In the new version, produced by Natali Noor, the artists have interpreted what sisterhood means to them. The new video was directed by Nicolina Knapp. In total, 100 people worked on the production, all of them identifying as women.
