We certainly hope that the decision to release a ballad as Tamar Braxton’s her first single signals a return of the ballad (not just the slow, sex jam) and more importantly a return of the songstress on mainstream radio. While a song, ballad or up-tempo, should be listener/radio friendly, we’ve have gotten away from letting singers who can sing do so. Instead it seems that the power ballads, or the songs that show an artist’s vocal ability are buried deep on an album and all that’s coming through the airwaves is finger snaps and bass. Surely some of that is coming with Ms. Braxton’s subsequent singles like “Hot Sugar”, but we love that the vocals were put out in front first with “Love and War”. Check out the video and enjoy.
