Real talk sometimes you just need a break. This week would be one for me. No, not a break from reality. Not a break from this site. Not a break from my responsibilities but a break from the mindshare that is the current environment of our popular culture. A pause. A breath. That’s what I’m doing with this soundtrack here. Escapism perhaps. Forty years out and there is no question of the cultural relevance of Parliament-Funkadelic. P-Funk, uncut funk, the bomb.
This recording is live to make you live. Sure I know there’s a ton of video footage of this tour but for what we are doing today I’m asking you to use your imagination. Remember that? You know just put the music on, close your eyes and imagine what it looks, feels, and even smells like to have been a part of this funk. There has not been a eulogy for the funk as the commodifiers of culture would have you to believe. The funk is and right about now I’m asking to be teleported just for a minute to recharge for this fight to reclaim the pyramids.
Now if you will excuse me I’m going to put a dip in this hip here and head on over to the mothership.
