Two things: On “Soul Inspiration” Nathan East’s bass riff around the 4:41 minute mark, and on “Lonely” I usually never, ever post video clips that don’t have the audio recorded directly from the sound source, but this performance is so good that I had to post. re: “Lonely” as one of my musical mentors told me “If you are going to play the Blues then play the Blues”. Anita, Gerald and the entire band are playing the Blues.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
