Let the writers write…
There’s just something about a skilled songwriter that has always intrigued me. When that songwriter also happens to be a fantastic performer then it really all lines up. El Debarge is in that number for me when the conversation turns to all-time favorites. If the only song that El penned ws “All This Love” that would have been enough, but there’s so much more and watching El in this format helps me to consider why I love music so much and why I want that love to return in a real way.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
