“Under The Bridge” was a poem written by Red Hot Chili Peppers vocalist Anthony Kiedis to express his feelings during a time of depression and drug addiction. He was reluctant to make his band mates aware of the song– fearing it was too emotional for the band’s style, but did so at the urging of producer Rick Ruben. The song was a success. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won the “Viewers Choice Award” and the “Breakthrough Video Award” at the 1992 MTV Music Video Awards.
