You know what? My GFM cohorts will tell you in no uncertain terms how much this video made me smile yesterday. Simply for the fact that I saw so many likes and comments for music that was made in 2013. I love a good throwback as much as the next person, but I also realize that new memories have to be created or forward we will not move. I also understand as much as the next person that good is not good enough.
In an environment where we are inundated with music on what seems like an hourly basis at times, good just ain’t going to get it anymore. We want and in fact deserve nothing but the best, period. The noise we will ignore, the great we will celebrate. This is great!
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
