So… somehow, somewhere, some way (thanks new Facebook timeline) we were supposed to have a special one day (ahem) AOM (check yesterday’s date for the explanation). April is Jazz Appreciation Month and we are looking to not just focus on one particular artist for the month (although an emphasis will be on the extensive catalog of Duke Ellington) but the art form as well as discuss some of the debate behind the term Jazz in and of itself. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused and now back to our regularly scheduled AOM 🙂
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
