One of my favorite songs period. Written by the great Harold Arlen, this song is the living testament to the power of a beautiful melody. Quite simply a melody like this knows no space or time that’s why it has been with us since it premiered in 1939 and will continue to be with us. Yes there are hundreds of covers of this classic, I thought a nice three-peat would be fun for our series today. Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
