The 1967 original from Dusty Springfield featured in the James Bond flick Casino Royale. I often refer to this song as one of the sexiest songs of the 20th century. The influence of Brazil is undeniable and the rhythm “swings and sways just like a samba.”
Our Artist of the Month takes on this classic on 1994’s Rhythm of Love. This take has a quite a bit more edge in the underlying accents from the rhythm section. Where as the original was behind the beat, Anita’s groove stays on top of the beat, some great piano work and the vocals here are incredibly smoky.
