As the line in the song goes “I was country when country wasn’t cool…” but actually if you take a peak at the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of December 24, 1977 Country Music was very cool. These two songs were at number 7 and 8 respectively. Suffice to say it has been a long time since a phenomenon like this has occurred.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
