From her forthcoming album, B7, Brandy is certainly “bringing dat smoke” with the new single, Rather Be. Now it’s been quite a long time since we’ve heard an album from Brandy – matter of fact, it’s been 8 years. But after hearing this cut, putting it on repeat, and humming it the next day, I’m completely excited to hear the upcoming project.
Produced by DJ Camper, the song is classic Brandy but Brandy isn’t your typical singer as you already know. As Tamar Braxton best expressed to TS Madison Hinton:
“The average girl can’t ride with Brandy on their best day. I’m just gonna be honest about it. Back in the day, I was rewinding 47,013 zillion times to get a “Brandy” run down packed.”
On top of that, you would be remiss if you didn’t mention Brandy‘s vocal background composition. It is completely undeniable. In Rather Be, you feel like you’re in a harmonic vortex you don’t want to leave. With that said, I invite you to listen for yourself.
