“Wild and Loose” kicked the party off with the first of only six tracks from their sophomore and arguably most successful album “What time Is It?” This song is the only cut on the album that Prince actually shared co-writing duties with Dez Dickerson. Also, Morris Day, one of the most underrated drummers, shows out on this one. “Wild And Loose” is a song whose strident sound based in hefty textured rhythm guitars with synthesized accents and a tough bass line mark it as part of that direct link between the Minneapolis Sound and James Brown. This song was a big time dance tune back in the day and got massive play in urban clubs and house parties all throughout the summer of 1982. It was also the first time you hear Morris ask what went on to become the groups “catch question” “WHAT TIME IS IT???”
