Slow, calm, contemplative this song is almost chant-like in its plea for the type of love that one deserves. The performance here is almost like a phone conversation, Anita basically laying out what is required as well as challenging the suitor-to-be to live up to his own hype. Although I know that Anita Baker is from the great state of Michigan, I’m pretty sure she was in a Missouri state of mind on this tune.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
