Ok true confession time… my original point of reference for this song was 1994 film Dumb & Dumber starring Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels and Lauren Holly. The song was featured prominently in Lloyd’s (Jim Carrey’s character) dream sequence which in true Carrey style is completely over the top hilarious.
Funny the power of images and music because a few years later when I actually heard the entire song on the radio my first reaction was “Hey that’s the tune from Dumb and Dumber!” Of course one of my more seasoned friends corrected me and let me know that it was a Cowsills tune and that during their run of hits The Cowsills were quite large. In fact The Partridge Family was based on the The Cowsills. Enjoy a little AM Gold.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director.
