I heard the most “Grown” statement I’ve heard in a very, very long time all courtesy of my mom. This statement is taken from a discussion surrounding our song today the Errol Garner classic “Misty”. I was asked to be apart of a Black History program in my hometown of Charlottesville, VA last evening and the focus of the event was a restaurant/hotel/nightspot called the Bren-Wana that was the place to be in the late 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
As part of the program I had the pleasure of playing with some of my great musician friends from home played “Misty” and my mom remarked how she loved that song and I mentioned that it was one of my favorites as well to which my mother replied “You may know that song, but there’s a whole lot of things you don’t know about that song that I do.” Touche. Touche.
After the jump check out a few other versions of this evergreen.
