Is it ok to come out and love music again in a real way? I pondered that question today. I didn’t see a my shadow today, although I’m not sure that I was looking. I will say this though… I have seen a few flashes both in the old and in the new. Today I will display some of the old. The flash that attracts me is the spirit that I hear in the music. Perhaps that’s the personal remedy that I need – to seek out that spirit because when you hear it you have no choice but to pay attention.
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
