From the 1983 LP The Songstress this was the cut that I came to much later than the 1983 debut in fact about 5 years later. You see after Rapture had taken a complete hold on me about a year and half after its release, I happened upon The Songstress in the record store in the Summer of ’88. What’s this I wondered to myself, since I had really missed it the first go round, but cut me a little slack I was a thirteen year old lad.
But when I said this album and in particular “Angel” which opens the entire set grabbed me, it grabbed me. I would listen to this song everyday before going to class and the result was a wide internal smile on my walk across campus. This song still gives me that same feeling all these years later, continues to great me like an old friend and we pick up right where we left off.
