I’m starting to get it. I mean not that I didn’t make the connection before at all but the purpose of this series is to get centered so that I can feel some type of way about music again. The core of that center is the realization that music=life and the life I live should be reflected in the music I take in and put out. Genuine is the only way to play because as great sage once said [paraphrasing] “I can only be me and you can only be you.”
Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
