DJ Enuff & Kweli buggin’ out. Gotta love the Shakir Stewart, Jennifer Hudson family and political references.

I meant to post this earlier. This was the blog talk radio show put on by James Andrews aka The Key Influencer as a tribute to Shakir. It was a wonderful celebration of his life, his accomplishments and his family. It’s the way we all want to remember him. Shout out to James Andrews for putting this together.
Once again, you can make a donation for his children following the memorial fund link below.
Show Description:
All of us were stunned Saturday night to find out about our friend Shakir Stewart who has passed away at such a young age. This is a place I have setup to allow folks to mourn using the skill of communication I have been blessed with and that Shakir admired…God bless you my friend.

Official Statement from IDJ:
“L.A. Reid and all of us at Island Def Jam Music Group are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and colleague Shakir Stewart,” read a statement sent from the label today. “Shakir was an amazing man in every sense of the word. A truly incredible friend and father who was an inspiration to not only our artists and employees, but to his family and the many people that had the privilege of counting him as a friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this very difficult time.”

When I first heard the news, I couldn’t believe it, refused to believe it. Dismissed it as another unsubstantiated, ridiculous industry rumor. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed.
Shakir was a friend, former colleague, mentor and one of the hardest working, sincere, real and most positive cats that I’ve ever known in the industry. We’ve watched and admired his rise from Morehouse hustler, to promoter, NoonTime, LaFace Records, Hitco and eventually Def Jam Executive VP.
Our most sincere thoughts, prayers and colleagues go out to the Stewart family and his extended musical family. R.I.P. Shake.
