So I have been a little quiet over the last few days because I often like to listen to the chat at the watercooler and let it fully digest before I add my $0.02 USD into the fray. The intersection of several music related events have piqued my interest on how honest we are when it comes the early adoption of artists particularly those closely identified with “Black Music” and of course I use the quotes because that is a discussion for another day and blog entirely. Yet another reason why we love Janelle.

Janelle Monae proves over and over again that she just doesn’t bring something to the table, she brings her own table, place settings and honored guests on The Arch Android. How she is able to distill well over 250 years of musical history into her own fresh palette of sounds is beyond me, but one thing is for certain in all the chaos that is otherwise known as the music industry circa 2010 The Arch Android provides us with some long overdue order. It’s only appropriate that on the day her Arch Android project dropped, that she would rock Letterman and show the world what they’ve been missing. Gotta love it! Word to James Brown.

The long awaited Arch Android project is finally here in all of it’s diverse, frenetic glory. It’s refreshing to see that she was allowed to be herself and just “do her”. What a concept. For that, we applaud all parties involved and encourage to you to support Janelle and if you get the chance to see her perform live, please do so. She’s an amazing entertainer.
