Song of the Day: The Original 7ven (Formerly-The Time) “Ice Cream Castles”

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

Known as the cool kids in the class, this funk pop tune was befitting of The Original 7ven‘s (formerly The Time) persona. While it carried a groove many of us loved, it also carried a message of interracial love and equality. Prince’s touch is once again evident in this classic cut and the song’s title is inspired by a lyric from Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now:

Bows and flows of angel hair

And ice cream castles in the air

And feather canyons everywhere,

I’ve looked at clouds that way.”

Now in looking at this video, I gotta give it up to the Original 7ven. Morris was looking like a black Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion and the group may I add were all looking, as Ricky Smiley would say, “open casket sharp” in this video. Here is the wonderful Ice Cream Castles from The Original 7ven formerly The Time.
