“I Love Your Smile”, the totally infectious tune by Shanice Wilson went to #1 on the R&B charts and reached the top ten in 22 countries. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Written and produced by Narada Michael Walden and featuring Branford Marsalis on the saxophone.

Late one night after a gig, I decided to pull a John Coltrane(practice after the gig). After doing so I had the urge to watch “Mo’ Betta Blues”. While watching it I dawned on me that this movie did a great deal for me and my generation. As the opening credits appeared on the screen and I the first few notes of the title song began(yes title song. It’s played slower) I though back to that summer of 1990. (more…)
