“Cover Me” Sundays/Song of the Day: Luther Vandross “Since I Lost My Baby”
Our song today comes from Luther’s second album for Epic, 1982′s Forever, For Always, For Love. Originally a Top 20 hit for The Temptations in 1965, this song was written by Smokey Robinson and Pete Moore of The Miracles and produced by Smokey. How could you go wrong? Of course it wouldn’t be a Luther Vandross production if it wasn’t Lutherized and one thing was very apparent over the course of Luther’s career is that he knew how to make a cover his own.
